At Feet First Foot Care Specialists, we’re wondering, if the feet of our Middlesex County patients could make a wish list for the holidays, what would be on it? It might go something like this:

Dear Santa,

Well, another year is coming to a close, which means I’ve walked another 1,400 miles! I have been good this year. I take my owner wherever she needs to go—and believe me, that’s a lot of places during this busy holiday season! Sometimes, however, I get achy and tired, and there are a few items on my wish list. In no particular order, here are a few of the gifts I’d love to find under the tree this year:

Foot Massager—it would be so lovely after a day of work or shopping to slip my feet into an electric foot massager and feel the stress melt away. I know maintaining good circulation is also essential for healthy feet, and regular massaging would certainly help with that.

Moisturizing Socks—when the heat goes on, my skin gets dry and flaky. I saw they now make socks that contain moisturizing gel in them. I would love to slip those on before I go to bed and let that moisturizer work its way into my heels which tend to get painful cracks in the winter.

Anti-Fatigue Mat—I try not to complain about when I stand at the sink prepping vegetables and fruits for family meals and cleaning the dishes afterward. Still, an anti-fatigue mat would make those chores so much more enjoyable. The cushiony comfort and slight movements those mats would cause me to make would leave my feet feeling way less tired when kitchen work is done.

New Shoes— I think my owner forgets that shoes do have a lifespan. Even though our go-to athletic shoes still look pretty good, I notice lately the insole cushioning feels compacted, and the arch isn’t as supportive as when we originally bought them. I’m sure it’s been over 500 miles in them, and I know they’re past due for replacing.

If it’s possible to bring me one or more of these items, Santa, I would appreciate it. And don’t forget something special for my owner too. She takes good care of me and always contacts the Cromwell office by calling 860-632-5499 to bring me to see our podiatrist, Dr. Adam Mucinskas, at the first sign of foot pains or problems.

Happy Holidays to you and Mrs. Claus,

Jennie’s Feet
