Your feet are hard workers, and they deserve some proper foot care and TLC to make sure they can keep doing their job! By implementing basic tips into your routine, you’ll reap big benefits.

The team at Feet First Foot Care Specialists LLC wants to make sure patients stay informed when it comes to foot hygiene, health, and wellness.

Here's an essential “do's and don'ts” guide for happy, healthy feet:

Do keep them clean and dry

Daily washing with soap and lukewarm water (avoiding water that’s too hot or too cold) is imperative, and it’s equally important to fully dry your feet before putting on (clean!) socks. This simple routine can help prevent fungal infections on the toes and general foot area. In addition to daily foot care, a weekly soak can boost your health and wellness!

Don’t trim your nails too short

Whether you’re trimming your nails at home or heading to the salon, it’s essential to keep one rule in mind: Keep nails trimmed short, but not too short! This helps prevent ingrown toenails and increased risk of infection

Do keep them moisturized

Your hard-working feet are susceptible to the buildup of dry skin cells, so it's crucial to use a moisturizing cream as part of your foot care routine! If your feet and heels become too dry, dead skin cells can build up, making it painful to walk.

Don’t wear ill-fitting shoes

Wearing shoes that do not provide proper support or the right fit can cause discomfort, pain, and even conditions such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, or blisters. Standing for long hours on hard surfaces increases these risks, making finding the proper footwear extra important if you want comfort from heel to toe!

Do pay close attention!

Checking your feet on a regular basis for any blisters, sores, or abnormalities and prioritizing foot hygiene is worth the extra few minutes a day! Since specific mild ailments can turn into more severe issues, it’s always a good idea to stay aware of any changes and try to prevent them.
